Glen Henderson’s The Lightness Matrix 2:  SPACE forms part two of a three part Parer Place Project developed as Artist in Residence at the Creative Industries Precinct QUT between July 25 – August 12, a digital moving image work developed in collaboration with Erik Griswold of Clocked Out winners of the ‘Award for Excellence by an Organisation’ APRA / AMC Art Music Awards, Sydney. Glen will discuss her digital work in terms of the openness of making, the matrix and sound/music.

Marina Rosenfeld is an artist and composer based in New York. Her installation, sound and performance works have been widely commissioned by institutions in Europe and North America, including solo projects for the 2010 Liverpool Biennial; the 2009 Performa Biennial of Performance; the 2009 Holland Festival (Amsterdam); Whitney Biennials 2002 and 2008; the Tate Modern (London); and the Kitchen (NY). Festivals programming her work include Ultima Festival (Oslo); Äänen Lumo Festival (Helsinki); Donaueschingen Musiktage (Donaueschingen, Germany), Ars Electronica (Linz), Faster Than Sound (Aldeburgh, UK); Wien Modern (Vienna), Musikprotokoll (Graz), Pro Musica Nova (Bremen), Maerz Musik (Berlin), Mutek (Montreal), Vancouver New Music Festival, and Los Angeles' Center for Experiments in Art, Information and Technology, among many others.

3) GIRRL WORKSHOPING SOUND AND DIGITAL ART FOR WOMEN
WHERE:  The Glasshouse, QUT Creative Industries Precinct

An evening of short digital and sound presentations and discussion of upcoming projects/opportunities for women. In particular the discussion will centre round notions of articulating digital and sonic approaches to making, the hybrid, jamming, visual-sound overlaps, digital/sound aesthetics etc.

4) DONNA HEWITT PRESENTS …

Donna Hewitt is a composer/performer working with voice, environmental and computer processed sound. Much of her work involves re-processing microphone-captured audio. In recent years she has been exploring real-time digital performance systems and custom interfaces mapped to object/patcher software environments. She is the co-designer of a new gestural interface for singers (the eMic) that brings together her work in vocal performance and electronic music composition. Recent performances include:
    * Liquid Architecture LA7 (Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne)
    * the International Computer Music Conference (Belfast, New Orleans)   
    * New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) (Sydney, Montreal)
    * disorientation (Sydney)
    * 1/4 Inch (Wollongong)
    * the Great Escape Festival (Sydney), including a series of collaborative works      
      with Julian Knowles.
Most recently, she has collaborated with Dance artist Avril Huddy on an Australia Council funded project for eMic performer and dancers. In 2010 Donna undertook a residency with Julian Knowles at STEIM in Holland with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts, Skills & Arts Development grant.
